Work experience

Proudest professional achievement
My most significant professional achievement to date is the remarkable journey of growth and development I embarked on in 2011. Starting as a Geotechnician with no prior experience, I dedicated myself to the field of engineering, determined to carve out a successful career. Over the course of several years, I embraced numerous roles within the engineering domain, each presenting its own set of challenges and learning opportunities. This journey was marked by continuous dedication and a commitment to expanding my skill set. By 2018, I had reached a pivotal milestone when I assumed the role of a branch manager within the engineering sector. In this capacity, I was entrusted with significant responsibilities, including overseeing the branch's operations and managing a team. For the next five years, from 2018 to 2023, I wholeheartedly embraced the role of branch manager, successfully navigating the complexities of leadership and contributing to the sustained success of the branch. It was during this period that I realised my passion for software development, leading me to make the bold decision to pivot my career trajectory. This transition highlights not only my adaptability but also my unwavering commitment to continuous self-improvement. I am excited to bring this same drive and determination to my new career in software development, leveraging the valuable lessons and experiences I gained in my previous roles to excel in this dynamic field.

State Manager

Engineering consultancy  • May 2018 - Jun 2023

  • As the State Manager for the Sydney Branch, I oversaw and managed a comprehensive end-to-end process for residential housing projects. My responsibilities encompassed on-site soil sampling, in-lab soil testing, geotechnical reporting, and engineering compliance inspections. This role required a high level of organisational and project management skills, which are directly transferable to software engineering..

In-House Classifier

Engineering consultancy • Jan 2017 - Mar 2018

  • I performed the crucial task of classifying soil samples from our in-house laboratory to ensure the accuracy of results used in engineering designs. Additionally, I provided wind classifications for each project, demonstrating my ability to apply structured data analysis and classification techniques, which can be applied to software data processing and categorisation.

Geotechnician

Engineering consultancy  • Jun 2011- Dec 2011

  • During my tenure as a Geotechnician, I managed daily operations in the soil laboratory and was responsible for preparing geotechnical reports. I also gained proficiency in drafting and conducted on-site soil testing. This experience enabled me to develop strong analytical skills and attention to detail, which are essential qualities for software engineering, especially in code development, testing, and quality assurance.
