“There was a lot of thinking that went into this. The interface looks quite fun which nice for something that is as happy and festive as Christmase. All these gifts are different sizes which make it quite interesting visually. I also like the thought that was put into having different price tiers - catering to different budgets. And the thing about being able to send a letter to Santa. A lot of thought was put into making it compelling and fun. ”
Emila Yang - Staff Interaction Designer at Google
"The Christmas Jigsaw got points for creativity and was the strongest submission visually. I like how they animated the grid, and how they reshuffled things. The interactions are quite creative and novel, as was the idea of presenting it as a jigsaw puzzle.. The illustrations were really cute and the message at the end was a nice touch. Perhaps they could have thought more carefully about what information they prioritized on the present cards - but overall it was a delightful and creative design"
“The Advent Calendar mobile app, inspired by gift boxes, recreates the joy of unwrapping presents in real life. Upon opening, each gift transforms into a puzzle piece. Once all gifts are unwrapped, 24 pieces form a festive Christmas-themed image. Plus, a hidden surprise awaits on the 25th! The app goes beyond the festive countdown, offering features like sending letters to Santa and sending heartfelt wishes and gifts to family and friends. With various price options, the Advent Calendar allows users to purchase 24 thoughtful gifts, catering to different budgets.”

“The strengths behind this design was the clear UX. It was clear to see what state each gift was in, whether gifts had been opened or unopened through the use of icons. The “Go to today’s gift” link is also a nice touch making it easier for users to navigate quickly to claim their gift.”
"I drew inspiration from the festive nature of Christmas and the yearly advent calendars that some beauty stores put up for sale. The anticipation build up from waiting for a new reward day was something I wanted to emulate. The colours represent the Christmas spirit with varying shades depending on context. I also incorporated open-source 3D elements to add visual excitement and show activity based on the user’s goals."
